Ryan is a good listener, readily accessible, and respects views that differ from his own. He runs very respectful and efficient public meetings, as he did chairing the District 61 School Board. He is dedicated to public service and represents electors in a positive manner.

I have known Ryan for many years as a friend and a fellow School Trustee. Although he served in District 61 and me in District 62, we were able to discuss and debate common issues. Ryan is very knowledgeable and a good listener and readily accessible. He understands and respects the points of view that may not be the same as his. He is a very good parliamentarian and runs very respectful and efficient public meetings. This was very evident during his time as Chair of the District 61 School Board.

Ryan and I come from different worlds, culturally, socially, and even geographically; literally, as we're from opposite sides of the country. Still, when we had the opportunity to work together, we clicked immediately because we shared a passion for doing right by the people we serve. That connection grew into a friendship that continues to this day. I’ve seen Ryan under pressure, make tough decisions, listen to different perspectives and stand firm when it matters. He leads with compassion, conviction and common sense, and I know he genuinely cares about people and community. I believe Ryan would bring that same energy and leadership to serving the people of View Royal as Mayor.

1. Responsible Taxes and Spending

I will treat every tax dollar like it is coming out of a family budget. That means clear choices, real value, and a plan to avoid surprise costs later. I will push for budgets that focus on core services first and explain trade-offs in plain language.

Example: Fix small problems early, like drainage or sidewalks, so we do not pay more after a failure.

2. Build Where It Makes Sense

I support building in the right places, with good design, and with roads, parks, and emergency response that can handle it. I will protect stable neighbourhoods while making room for truly affordable options for families and seniors.

Example: Support ground-floor commercial with residential above along the Western Gateway corridor.

3. Public Safety and Emergency Services

Fast, reliable response is not optional. I will back the people and equipment needed for fire rescue, emergency planning, and community policing. I will also focus on smart prevention, so we reduce risk before a crisis hits.

Example: Support local emergency readiness and make sure our policing plans keep up with the West Shore.

4. Traffic and Transportation Planning

Traffic is a quality-of-life issue. I will push for safer crossings, better sidewalks, and better connections so people can walk, roll, bike, or take transit when it works for them. I will focus on the real pinch points and school routes, not just long reports that sit on a shelf.

Example: Improve safety on corridors like Six Mile Road where pedestrian safety has been flagged, especially in peak seasons.
