VIEW ROYAL, BC - Ryan Painter has announced that he is putting his name forward for Mayor of View Royal.
“Over the last eight months, I’ve had conversations with many of my fellow View Royal residents. I’ve gone door to door, visiting hundreds of homes to listen to your concerns, and I’ve heard time and again at View Royal events like the first View Royal Community Association Summerfest and barbeques this summer what our hopes are. I have a clear vision of what our community needs,” Ryan said. “View Royal must keep true to our roots as we chart our path, our way - the right way - for our future.”
Ryan’s priorities are:
- Get traffic moving.
- Get better value for our tax dollars.
- Bring shops and jobs to the Western Gateway at Six Mile.
- Get you a family doctor.
- Keep View Royal feeling like View Royal
- Ensure your voice is heard.
Ryan is no stranger to local, provincial, or national governance, with decades of professional, executive experience. In addition to running his own successful View Royal small business, Ryan has served in professional executive leadership roles in British Columbia’s not-for-profit sector, at BC’s legislature, an elected Greater Victoria School Trustee, and as chair of the Greater Victoria School Board, one of the largest school districts in the province.
His vision for View Royal’s future is born from a combination of conversations across View Royal and his experience in governance and leadership.
Ryan’s vision is clear.
“We have so much to be thankful for living in View Royal,” Ryan said. “At the same time, there are changes happening that pose a real threat to our way of life here - changes that the province is pushing on us, changes that would mean more and more unwanted traffic congestion and parking issues, changes that would download more costs onto your tax bill. We need to stand up together for the View Royal we know and love.”
It is Ryan’s dedication to protecting and preserving what makes View Royal unique and special that has won the encouragement from friends and neighbours to lead the community.
“I’m honoured to have the support of friends and neighbours, including people who have served on council in View Royal for many years,” Ryan said. “They understand what it means to make this kind of four-year commitment.”
This support includes endorsements from two current members of the View Royal Council.
